Put your Planning Center People data on the map to see where your members and households live, plan visits and organize small groups by area.

1. Open Data Sources

In GeoMaps, open the menu in the top-right corner of the map and choose Data Sources. Add a new source and select Planning Center to open its connection form.

2. Connect Planning Center

Planning Center connects with a secure sign-in — no keys to copy.

  • Click Connect Planning Center and sign in with a Planning Center account that has access to People.
  • Approve the access GeoMaps asks for.
  • Choose the objects to import — People and Campuses are selected for you; Households are available too.

People are placed at their primary address. Households are placed at their primary contact's address (or the first member with one). Campuses use the location set in Planning Center.

3. Choose what to map

Pick the object(s) you want to plot and confirm which field holds the address (GeoMaps suggests one for you). Every record is placed on the map, geocoded only where needed, then kept in sync on a schedule as your data changes.

Good to know

  • Two-way sync: click the pencil next to a field in a marker popup to change it. The edit is saved in Planning Center too and shows up in the data source’s Logs. GeoMaps re-reads Planning Center automatically — every 10 minutes for most organizations, less often for very large ones.
  • Active and inactive people are both imported. Filter on Status to show only active members.
  • Medical notes, background checks and login details are never imported.
  • Planning Center has no record owner, so owner-based permissions don't apply to this data source.

Troubleshooting

  • "You signed in to a different Planning Center organization than this source uses": sign in to the original organization, or add the other one as a new data source.
  • Syncing stopped after a long pause: Planning Center ends a connection that hasn't been used for 90 days. Reconnect to resume.
  • Reconnecting: open Data Sources, pick the Planning Center source, click Connection and then Reconnect, and sign in again. Your lists, filters and styling are kept.

Disconnect Planning Center

Open Data Sources, pick the Planning Center source and click Delete data source. Its lists are removed from GeoMaps and GeoMaps' access to Planning Center is revoked; nothing is deleted in Planning Center.
