Excel to Map: Paste a Spreadsheet, Get a Map

Paste rows from Excel or Google Sheets, or upload a file, and see them as pins on an interactive map colored by any column. Free, no signup, up to 100 rows.

Free, no signup. Up to 100 rows per map.

Your data stays in your browser: each address goes straight to the free Photon geocoder (OpenStreetMap). GeoMaps never receives it.

How to map a spreadsheet

  1. 1

    Paste your rows

Copy rows from Excel or Google Sheets, header row included, and paste them. Or upload a CSV or Excel file. Address columns are detected for you.

  3. 3

    Save it free

Click any pin to see its row. Sign up free and the whole spreadsheet comes with you, placed with more accurate geocoding and kept in sync.

From a quick map to one you keep

A pasted map is great for a quick look. Most teams then want the map to stay current, show more rows and do more than show pins. In GeoMaps your spreadsheet, Google Sheet or CRM stays connected, so the map updates when the data changes, with no re-pasting. You can filter by any field, find the records nearest to an address, plan routes, draw territories and share a live map with your team or clients.

This free tool places addresses with OpenStreetMap data, whose house-number coverage varies by area. When every pin must land on the right building, sign up for GeoMaps: the free plan maps up to 1,000 locations with commercial-grade geocoding, with no ads and no expiry.

Excel to map: FAQ

How do I turn an Excel spreadsheet into a map?
Copy the rows (including the header row) from Excel or Google Sheets, paste them into the box above and click Make my map. Your rows appear as pins on an interactive map; click a pin to see the whole row.
Is it free?
Yes. It's free with no signup for up to 100 rows per map. A free GeoMaps account maps up to 1,000 locations, permanently, with no ads and no expiry.
How accurate are the pins?
This free tool uses the Photon geocoder, built on OpenStreetMap data. Many street addresses match exactly; some only match to the street or the city, depending on how well OpenStreetMap covers your area. When you sign up, GeoMaps places every address with commercial-grade geocoding.
Is my data uploaded to GeoMaps?
No. Mapping happens in your browser: each address goes straight to the free Photon geocoding service. Your spreadsheet only reaches GeoMaps if you click Save this map free and create an account.
Can I keep the map updated when my spreadsheet changes?
In GeoMaps, yes: connect Google Sheets, Excel, a CRM or a database and the map stays in sync as your data changes, with no re-pasting. You can also filter, color by any field, plan routes, draw territories and share the map with a link.
What columns do I need?
Just an address: one full-address column, or separate street, city, state and ZIP columns. Any other columns (name, type, status, revenue…) show up when you click a pin and can be used to color the pins.

Only need coordinates? Batch geocoder. Need a file for Google Earth? Excel to KML.
