Draw Layers

Draw territories right on the map.

Sketch custom territories and zones directly on the map, then let GeoMaps tag every record that falls inside them.

Layers

What draw layers does

  • Draw custom polygon territories and zones point by point
  • Edit boundaries any time — drag, add or remove vertices
  • Name each layer and pick its color from a palette or a custom hex value
  • Records inside a layer are tagged automatically
  • Filter, count and assign your data by the areas you drew
  • On-map labels keep every territory clearly identified

Draw Layers in GeoMaps

Draw layers turn the map into a planning canvas. Click to drop the corners of an area — a sales territory, a delivery zone, a catchment — and close the shape to create a named, colored layer. Edit it any time by dragging, adding or removing points until the boundary is exactly right.

Once a layer is drawn, GeoMaps works out which of your records sit inside it and tags them automatically, so you can filter, count and assign data by the boundaries you care about — no spreadsheet of postcodes required. Each layer can have its own name and color and shows a label on the map.

It's part of GeoMaps' layers tools, so it works hand in hand with the rest of your map.

Where draw layers helps

Sales territory design

A sales ops lead can carve a market into rep territories by hand, then instantly see how many accounts and how much pipeline fall in each one.

Delivery and service zones

Draw the areas you actually service and tag which customers fall inside, making it obvious who's in-zone and who's an exception.

Canvassing areas

Split a city into walkable zones for a field team and assign each zone's records to the person covering it.

Draw Layers FAQ

How are records assigned to a drawn area?
GeoMaps checks which records fall inside the polygon you drew and tags them automatically, so you can filter and count your data by territory without manually labeling anything.
Can I edit a territory after drawing it?
Yes. You can drag existing points, add new ones or remove them to reshape the boundary whenever your territories change.
Can I give each territory its own color?
Each layer has its own name and color — pick from the palette or enter a custom hex value — and a label on the map keeps it identified.
Do I need GIS skills to draw territories?
No. You draw areas by clicking on the map, the same way you'd outline a region with a pen — there are no shapefiles or GIS tools to learn.
