Batch Geocoder: Addresses to Latitude & Longitude
Paste addresses or upload a spreadsheet, get coordinates for up to 100 addresses at a time, see them on a map and download the results — free, no signup.
Up to 100 addresses per run · free · no signup.
Privacy: addresses are sent from your browser straight to the free Photon geocoder (OpenStreetMap data). GeoMaps never receives or stores them.
How to geocode a list of addresses
- 1
Add your addresses
Paste one address per line, or upload a CSV or Excel file and pick the address column(s) — street, city, state and ZIP columns are combined automatically.
- 2
Geocode
Click Geocode. Up to 100 addresses are looked up, one by one, with a live progress bar.
- 3
Check & download
Every result is labelled by how precisely it matched. Review them on the map, then download a CSV or Excel file with latitude and longitude columns added.
What is geocoding?
Geocoding turns a written address — “350 5th Ave, New York, NY” — into map coordinates: a latitude and a longitude. Once your addresses have coordinates, you can put them on a map, measure distances, find what's nearby, draw territories or plan routes.
Batch geocoding does this for a whole list at once. It's the first step whenever a spreadsheet of customers, stores or sites needs to become a map — or when another tool (Google Earth, GIS software, a route planner) wants coordinates rather than addresses.
This free tool uses OpenStreetMap data, whose coverage of house numbers varies by area. Results that match only the street or the city are labelled as such. When every address must land on the right building, use GeoMaps, which geocodes with commercial-grade address data and keeps your map in sync with the spreadsheet or CRM.
Batch geocoder — FAQ
- Is this batch geocoder free?
- Yes — it's free with no signup, for up to 100 addresses per run. It uses the free Photon geocoder, which is built on OpenStreetMap data.
- How accurate is it?
- It depends on how well OpenStreetMap covers your area. Many street addresses match exactly; some only match to the street or the city. Each result is labelled (Address, Street, City / area, No match) so you can see what you got. For business-critical data, GeoMaps geocodes with commercial-grade address data.
- Are my addresses uploaded to GeoMaps?
- No. Your browser sends each address directly to the Photon geocoding service and receives the coordinates back. GeoMaps never receives or stores your addresses or results.
- Why is there a limit per run?
- The free Photon service asks users to be fair, so the tool geocodes politely — one address at a time, with a cap per run. For thousands of addresses, import the file into GeoMaps instead.
- Can I convert latitude/longitude back to an address?
- This tool goes from address to coordinates. If your file already has coordinates, you can put it straight on a map with GeoMaps or convert it to KML, GeoJSON or a Shapefile with the free converters.
Already have coordinates? Convert CSV to KML, Excel to KMZ or view any map file.
